Atola Insight is an all-in-one hard drive data recovery and forensic system for professional use. It offers complex data retrieval functions along with utilities for manually accessing hard drives at the lowest level.

DiskSense Gigabit Ethernet unit for Atola Insight
Our unit has been using the Atola since 2009. Our reasons to choose those device basically the ease of use and the advancement of it. As a digital forensic examiner, we have to face with evidence like HDD that has been locked by ATA password or hardware problem such as bad cluster or 'weak' head. Read more

Since its initial release in 2008, the Atola Insight has received excellent user reviews because of its diverse functionality, user friendly interface, and strong product support channels.

Forensic and E-Discovery solution

The Atola Insight has several key features for data capture in forensic and e-discovery cases:

  • Excellent disk imaging speed up to 180 MB/s;
  • Checksum calculation: MD5, SHA (1, 224, 256, 384, 512);
  • Forensic data erasure methods including DoD 5220.22-M, Security Erase, NIST 800-88, Pattern Erase;
  • Case management system;
  • ATA Password removal;
  • File recovery for NTFS (all versions), Ext 2/3/4, HFS, HFS+, HFSX, ExFAT, FAT16, FAT32;
  • High performance of the multi-pass imaging for damaged drives;
  • Authentic Atola HDD diagnostics that creates a detailed report in minutes.
This is an ideal option for forensic professionals who need an efficient imager with strong data recovery capability for creating forensically sound images of damaged or unstable hard drives. Using the Atola Insight saves time in the field and extracts more data to create a more complete image.

Addressing all four phases of Data Recovery

1. HDD Diagnosis

Successful recovery job starts with accurate diagnosis of the problem. The Atola Insight is the ONLY product in the data recovery industry with the ability to accurately evaluate a hard drive's health and pinpoint specific problems. This feature puts Atola Insight users at a major advantage by enabling them to take all factors into account before moving forward with a recovery.
See the Diagnosis page for details

2. Firmware Recovery and Password Removal

When a hard drive is experiencing firmware problems, it is not usually accessible using conventional data recovery products or imaging utilities. The Atola Insight recognizes firmware corruption using its advanced diagnostic module and repairs it with the click of a button for supported HDD models. For non-supported HDD models, the Atola Insight recognizes firmware corruption and provides direct access to firmware files (modules), enabling expert technicians to manually repair the corruption.
See the Firmware Recovery page for details

The Atola Insight properly recognizes locked hard drives and allows fully automated extraction or removal of an unknown ATA password with a single click of a button.
See the Password Removal page for details

3. HDD Duplication / Backup Image Creation

Extracting every fragment of data from a damaged or unstable hard drive is a crucial part of the data recovery process. The Atola Insight's duplication/imaging system allows the user to completely customize the imaging process to suit each recovery job.

This module now comes standard with SELECTIVE HEAD IMAGING, allowing the operator to identify the status of individual read/write head and create an individual imaging approach for each one.
See the Disk Duplication page for details

4. File Recovery

File recovery is the last phase of most data recovery jobs. The Atola Insight's file recovery engine is simple, intuitive, and effective. It integrates seamlessly with Disk Duplication and Case Management systems to effectively extract data and put the finishing touches on data recovery cases.
See the File Recovery page for details

Advanced password removal capability

Atola Insight automatically removes ATA passwords from hard drives in just 2 minutes (for supported models). This highly complex feature can be executed by the operator with one click of a button and the password is displayed after it is removed whenever possible. See Password Removal page for details.

Well-rounded feature set

Atola Insight comes equipped with a range of utility features for each step of the recovery process. These features include device configuration for modifying hard drive parameters, HDD current monitoring for continuous diagnosis, a disk editor for modifying hard drive data, and an add/remove password function. See Disk Utilities page for details.

Smooth case management from start to finish

Atola Insight is the only data recovery product on the market that was built with case management in mind. All functions are tied in to one-another and the system tracks and records every action taken with a given hard drive. If a session is stopped and the hard drive is disconnected from Atola Insight and then later reconnected, the system will recognize the hard drive and give the operator the option to re-open the case. See the Case Management page for details.

Two hardware options to meet your needs

The Atola Insight system is offered with 2 options for the DiskSense unit, which is the physical tool that mounts the hard drive and connects to the operator's computer. The DiskSense USB unit offers a lower investment price and transfers data at speeds up to 40 MB/sec (UDMA speed). The DiskSense Ethernet unit utilizes a faster 180 MB/sec interface for data transfer functions with 2 ports to allow for direct disk-to-disk duplication.
